Abstract

The article examines the issue of impaired social adaptation among forcibly displaced persons due to the experience of guilt. The relevance of this problem is determined by the increasing forced migration flows of Ukrainians caused by military actions. The study employs the method of theoretical analysis of scientific works by domestic and foreign authors representing various psychological schools.

It was found that the main characteristics of the experience of guilt among forced Ukrainian migrants include: the presence of moral suffering; internal conflicts between the desire to integrate into a new environment and the feeling of shame before those who remained; fear of social condemnation for their actions by others; longing for the homeland; heightened anxiety; and a sense of personal inadequacy. These factors may lead to depression, other personality disorders, and disruptions in social functioning.
