Gender characteristics of the attitude to the phenomenon of old age

Abstract

The article presents the results of a theoretical and empirical study of gender characteristics of the attitude to old age. Based on the results of the conducted empirical research, it has been proven that there are certain psychological factors of gender characteristics of the attitude to the phenomenon of old age, the presence of a connection between gender characteristics of the personality and various directions of manifestation of meaningful life orientations, deep psychological traits of the personality, acceptance of old age and attitude to old age has been revealed. It has been established that with the growth of the level of masculinity, the level of understanding of one's life increases, both in general and according to individual signs, which are manifested by the presence of goals and purposefulness in their achievement, interest in the life process in one's own present, filling  it with content, self-realization, the feeling of oneself as a person who has a choice to build his/her life path in accordance with his/her ideas. It was found that, regardless of gender, the manifestation of masculine qualities is important for perceiving life as interesting, filled with personal meaning, as a continuous process, and, therefore, accepting old age as an indispensable stage of life'sj ourney.
