The interaction between psychological factors and thyroid disorders: a psychosomatic aspect

Keywords: thyroid gland, stress and psychosomatics, emotional-somatic disorders, psychoendocrinology, psychological factors.

Abstract

The relevance of the research topic is driven by the need for a more in-depth study of the impact of stress on the psycho-emotional and physical state of individuals.

The goal is to identify and analyze the stages of development and current trends in the study of psychosomatic diseases, focusing on the main challenges in understanding the relationship between the influence of stress factors and the development of thyroid dysfunction. Attention is focused on the evaluation and systematization of data from scientific sources in accordance with thematic principles and methodological approaches, in order to identify key trends in the study of emotional-somatic reactions. The connection between thyroid diseases and associated psycho-emotional and somatic disorders are also identified.

Results and conclusions. Currently, there are numerous models of the pathogenesis of psychosomatic disorders and methods of their treatment, yet none of them is considered exhaustive or definitive. The emergence of new, sometimes contradictory, concepts reflects the limitations of our understanding of somatization processes and the very concept of "psychosomatics". While this ambiguity creates certain challenges in clinical practice, it also stimulates further scientific exploration in the field of psychophysiological processes. Our study confirmed the complexity and ambiguity of the relationship between stress factors and thyroid dysfunction, highlighting the importance of psychological and psychosocial factors in the development of these disorders.
