The authors present the ways of forming Internet addiction, the development of which is influenced by the presence of such characteristics of young people's anxiety, tendency to depression, low self-esteem and stress resistance, inability to solve problems constructively, escapism, etc. This addiction is also characterized by problems in building relationship with peers, colleagues, partners and loneliness, which contribute to immersion in the Internet reality.
The further development of Internet technologies, artificial intelligence, the emergence of virtual reality, robotics, as well as unfavorable external factors (wars, pandemics, socio-political instability, etc.) further contributes to the development and spread of Internet addiction among the population. That is why a detailed study of this phenomenon and the factors that contribute to this development is necessary, as well as the formulation of preventive measures to prevent the chronicization of destructive life strategies and improve social and psychological adaptation of youth
