Psychometric properties of the Ukrainian version of the PGWBI scale on a sample of breast cancer patients
Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of psychometric properties of the Ukrainia nadaptation of the Psychological General Well-Being Index (PGWBI) scale on a sample of cancer patients diagnosed with breast cancer. The Ukrainian adaptation of the PGWBI scale was tested for reliability and validity, and the correspondence to the structure o fthe original was established using exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. The PGWBI scale demonstrated excellent internal consistency, confirming its reliability. The two-dimensional structure differs from the six-factor version of the original, but this does not compromise the validity of the instrument. The scale has shown strong competitive validity, correlating well with other psychological metrics such as the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) and the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS). The Ukrainian version of the PGWBI is a reliable and valid tool for assessing the psychological well-being of breast cancer patients. These results provide a basis for future research and clinical evaluations of the Ukrainian sample.
